How does learning work? Each verse moves through stages — read, fill-in-the-blanks, first-letter cues, and full recall — then spaced-repetition reviews bring it back right before you’d forget it. Choose Easy, Normal, Hard, or Expert under Me → Settings.
Can I learn a whole chapter or book? Yes. Open the Bible tab, pick a book and chapter, and tap “Whole chapter” or “Learn the whole book.” Verses are added in order and introduced a few per day (adjust “New verses per day”).
Which Bible translation does Hidden Word use? By default the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), a modern translation dedicated to the public domain, so the whole Bible works offline. Verses saved in earlier versions were updated to the BSB wording automatically, with your progress kept. The Holy Bible, Berean Standard Bible, BSB is produced in cooperation with Bible Hub, Discovery Bible, unfoldingWord, Bible Aquifer, OpenBible.com, and the Berean Bible Translation Committee. This text of God’s Word has been dedicated to the public domain. Other translations (KJV, WEB, MSB, ASV, RV, YLT, Darby, Webster, BBE, Geneva 1599) are in the public domain. “World English Bible” is a trademark of eBible.org; the WEB text is unmodified. I got a new phone. How do I sign in? On the Me tab, sign in with your friend code and PIN. Leaderboard stats follow your account; your verse library stays on the device where you practiced.
Forgot my PIN? Email us from any address with your display name and friend code.
Reminders aren’t showing. In the Android/iPhone app, allow notifications for Hidden Word. On the web, browsers can’t always wake a site at an exact time — use “Add daily reminder to my calendar.”
Does Hidden Word cost anything? No. Hidden Word is completely free, with no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases, and every verse is unlocked. It’s supported by optional donations.
Can I use another translation? Yes. Pick one of 13 bundled translations in Settings, or tap the translation tag while practicing to switch just that verse.
What’s a streak freeze? You earn one each week and every 500 XP (hold up to 3). If you miss a day, one is used automatically so your streak survives.
